~Whitney Kate Sullivan, Romantic Times Magazine – 4-Star Review

~Maureen Child, USA Today bestselling author of Conquering King’s Heart

img_0204“Breakfast in Bed is a fun and sexy romp from beginning to end. The characters are ones you would love to call friend.  Author Robin Kaye has a knack for reaching right into the reader’s heart and giving them a story to match their deepest desires.  Becca and Rich are perfect for each other.  The chemistry leaps off the page whenever they are together. I laughed, I cried, and I cheered them on as they frolicked their way to a happily ever after.  Bravo, Ms Kaye!”
~Lettetia Elsasser,  Affair de Coeur 4 ½  Stars

“If you’re in the mood for a light breezy read with a happy ending, but enough twists and turns to make it interesting, don’t miss this book.”
~Bellas Novella

“Breakfast in Bed is another fascinating look at the Ronaldi family and their friends that provided me with hours of enjoyment. I can’t wait to see who the next god Ms. Kaye decides to grace with their own book.
~Hibiscus, Long and Short Reviews 4 ½ Books

Here’s an excerpt of Breakfast in Bed:

Rich followed her to the kitchen and leaned against the breakfast bar, staring at her as if he could see beneath her clothes. It was unnerving, and she reminded herself of all the reasons she didn’t like him.

“I know you don’t like me much.”

Becca took a cup from the cabinet. Ah, and he was a mind reader too.

“I don’t know why, but it doesn’t matter.”

“It doesn’t?” Wow, he was good. Not in that way, she reminded herself. And no, she wasn’t even that curious. She poured herself coffee.

He shook his head. “It might be a good thing.”

She looked up from the cup she was filling. “How can my not liking you be a good thing?”

“I need help, and I know it might come as a shock, but most women find me attractive. That would just complicate matters.”

“Color me surprised. Since you know I don’t like you, I suppose I can give up pretending that I do.”

He nodded and smiled a sinfully sexy smile that made her hormones do the cha-cha. She stepped out of the kitchen and picked up the sheets, blanket, and pillow she’d left for him in the living room, and returned them to the closet. Anything to get away from him. The man was a threat to her equilibrium. Unfortunately, he followed. “Okay, so since I don’t have to be nice, and you’re weirdly happy about that, why don’t you just leave?”

“I have a proposition for you.”

“No.”

“No?”

“That’s the answer to your proposition.”

“Don’t you even want to know what it is?”

“Not especially, but I will listen if you promise it will get you out my door sooner.”

He smiled again, and she rolled her eyes. She just wanted to be alone already. When it came down to it, she wasn’t much of a social person. She spent most of her time alone in her studio, and she was happy to do it. She didn’t need a man or company to keep her happy.

“Gina dumped me. She said I wasn’t relationship material because I don’t cook, clean, and do my own laundry. How hard can it be? I just need a trainer.”

“A trainer?”

“Yeah, like a domestic coach. Someone to show me the ropes. So I learn whatever I have to learn to make Gina think I’m not such a bad bet.” He might as well have asked her to streak through Times Square during rush hour.

Rich picks up the gauntlet and mayhem ensues. He soon discovers that he enjoys pissing Becca off, it becomes a hobby. Before long, he’s having so much fun hanging out with Becca, he’s almost forgotten why he started this whole thing in the first place–to get his girlfriend back in time to go to a charity benefit with his boss. When Rich meets with Gina to tell her he’d changed, he realizes that he doesn’t want her in the first place, the only one he wants Becca, who still doesn’t like him. It was a good thing he had a talent for wearing her down.

If you want a sneak peek at the first chapter of Breakfast in Bed, Romeo, Romeo, or Too Hot to Handle, they’re on my website at www.RobinKayeWrites.com along with the Domestic Gods Top Ten List, reviews, and a calendar of my blog tour. Wait! Not so fast.

I have two more prezzies to add to our giveaway. :)

Our family was privileged to visit Peru this past summer so our lucky winner will also receive a hand-woven scarf from Chinchero, Peru and a Peruvian woven knapsack to hold all their new treasures.  Let me show you where we found one of these treasures.

We travelled to Chinchero, Peru, which is at an altitude 12,400 feet.  It’s a heady feeling being at the same level as the mountain tops.

We walked these streets of Chinchero. Then we were thrilled to watch these lovely ladies demonstrate how they washed and dyed the alpaca (baby llama) and sheep wool.

The weavers use local plants and insects to create colourful woven items.

Welcome to the first blog post for the 2007 Golden Heart finalists! Break out the party hats and pass the margarita ice pops.

We’re celebrating in style and have arranged for a rare visit to the mysterious Isla Romance, or Rom Runners Island as it’s known in some author circles. This idyllic hideaway boasts silky smooth beaches, turquoise waters, comfy chaise lounge chairs, and hunky cabana boys. It’s in this typical setting – vital for creating the perfect romance novel – where we’ll find romance authors hard at work.

Look, over there! Well-known category authors Melissa James and Robyn Grady are waving us over for a chat!

Just think, a chance to see authors working in their natural habitat.

Robyn Grady

Robyn Grady

Melissa! Robyn! What a treat.

Both authors have not-to-be-missed June releases. Melissa James, who writes for Harlequin Romance, has a wonderful story out called His Princess in the Making.

Melissa, would you share some titbits about His Princess in the Making?

Hi, Gail, lovely to see you and be here! Princess, as I call it, is one of my all-time favourite books. I first wrote a draft of this book (and she was not a princess then!) in 1996, sent a query to another line in Silhouette, who asked for the full ms but rejected it as “too dark”. But she said I’d “invented wonderful, memorable characters”, especially the hero, Toby. I hugged that to me for years, even after I sold. I knew this book’s time would come…I just needed to find the write storyline, and the right line for it. And last year, I did. My lovely editor asked for a royal story or stories, and, being me, I couldn’t do a traditional royal family – I had to do an unorthodox one. So I thought of a brother and sister, happily living in obscurity in Sydney – a fireman and a ballet teacher – who find out their grandfather was a runaway Grand Duke, and they’re now, by default of illness and revolution, the Crown Prince and Princess of Hellenia…and the Suddenly Royal series was born! I really loved this series, it almost wrote itself (which doesn’t often happen for me), and the chance to do Charlie’s story (The Rebel King, April 09) and Lia’s (Princess) was too wonderful an opportunity to miss. Toby, the hero of Princess, is an ordinary guy forever lost in love with his best friend, and now he can never tell her – she’s gone beyond his reach. Yet because of her teen bout with anorexia, Toby is her #1 support person. So he can’t have her, but can’t leave her…

Impossible love…

<sigh> Their story is superb. In addition to a new release, you’re a finalist in the sweet category for Australia’s prestigious Romantic Book of the Year award, aka The RUBY. What an honour. Congratulations, Melissa!

Thank you so much! I was both stunned and thrilled. I’ve never finalled before so really didn’t expect this. And to be up with such wonderful competition is an honour. I don’t expect to win, but Robyn is going to be calling my name out that night – friend and sometime CP when we can manage it – and so many of my friends and CPs will be there. That’s enough for me.

Robyn, you also have a fabulous book out this month – Bedded by Blackmail (Silhouette Desire). What aspect of Tristan and Ella’s story intrigued you most?

Gail, firstly, thanks so much for the invite! And in such a great setting with such great company. <Robbie tinkles her fingers at the nice cabana boys> Congrats Lisa on your RUBY nomination on a fabulous book! And WTG Gail and co for putting together this fantastic place to come and chat.

Now, onto my June release… I think what I like most about Ella and Tristan’s story is that it’s that little bit different to any Desire you might pick up. It’s a rags to riches story with a novel spin on family scandal and a sound dollop of intrigue thrown in for good measure. Reviewers commonly point out that they like the fact it isn’t the hero blackmailing the heroine. I do too.

Actually Tristan is one of my favorite heroes. He’s still alpha and has a big lesson to learn with regard to self-awareness, but he also has an incredibly strong protective streak, and he is intent on protecting his housekeeper, who has recently transformed from a duckling into a beautiful swan.

Ella’s a fabulous cook and a great housekeeper (clearly not based on the author!) who has simple tastes and values loyalty. The perfect woman, some men might say. Today’s women, in novels and in real life, are often assertive and dynamic – I love those kinds of heroines. But I really enjoyed writing a woman who quietly goes about her business, doesn’t expect a lot and is rewarded in the most wonderful way. Basically Bedded by Blackmail is a Cinderella story, with a ball or sorts, a despicable villain and, most importantly, a unique and fulfilling happily ever after. You just know these two are destined to love each other forever.

And it’s a marvellous story.  Melissa and Robyn, thank you so much for the visit!

I hope everyone has a chance to take an island tour with their ideal cabana boy. Robyn has selected Gerald Butler, and I finally narrowed my choices to Jason Statham or Vin Diesel. Then again, there’s Hugh Jackman, Nathan Fillion, or … Decisions, decision!

Want an easier task? Pick up copies of His Princess in the Making by Melissa James (Harlequin Romance) his-princess-in-the-making
